GREEN STARS

Age range 3-6 years
Wednesdays 4:15-5:15pm

*DURING CLASS*

Through their imagination and excitement, the students are taught a range of dance subjects whilst learning technical terms that will assist them with the topics being learnt. They will regularly cover Ballet, Tap, Modern, Acro and singing within their class. They receive the discipline and knowledge to take an exam within their own class on a Wednesday. Please don’t be worried about the word EXAM as our Green Stars students take their Silver & Gold Rose Awards of which their dance teacher assists them with whilst in the exam. After showing their exercises, as long as they join in and try their best, your child will receive a small trophy cup on the day of their exam, along with their personal write up. They receive an official certificate later on. We encourage you to allow your child to take exams as this is an enjoyable experience for them.

* CLASS FUN!*

All of our Stars are provided with streamers, ballet hearts, scarfs, pom poms, etc. These enhance our students learning and add an additional fun factor to the classes. We have, through fund raising, bought individual acrobatic mats for each student to use during their class.

REWARDS

-Our Green Stars Group have 2 mascots as an end of class reward. Each week someone has the chance to take them home! The mascots have their own dance bag with clothes inside for the students to dress them up in, also a book for them to write about their experiences. This really is an effective way of encouraging our students.

-We have lots of fun within lessons and when students show promise and improvement they are rewarded with stickers! Our student love their stickers as they collect them in their very own sticker book, which we also provide them with.

-We also have certificates of which a few children are picked to receive at the end of their lesson. These are based on their listening skills and also enthusiasm to attempt new moves.

PINK STARS

Age range 7-8/9years

Wednesdays 4:15-5:45pm

DURING CLASS

Through fun and enjoyment, the students are taught a range of dance subjects whilst learning technical terms that will assist them with the knowledge and understanding of dance. They will regularly cover Ballet, Tap, Modern, Acro and singing within their class with lots of opportunities to show off what they can do! We are very encouraging within class as we understand everyone has different aspirations and abilities.

The Stars have the privilege to receive the discipline and knowledge to take an exam. Please don’t be worried about the word EXAM as our Pink Stars students take their Silver & Gold Rose awards of which their dance teacher assist them whilst in the exam. After showing their exercises, as long as they join in and try their best, your child will receive a small trophy cup on the day of their exam along with their personal write up. They receive an official certificate later on.

There is also an option for students who have progressed through their Rose awards to move onto the next level and take their Preparatory exams. As these are higher than Rose Awards, students complete the exam with other peers and the examiner and do not find out their results on the exam day but do receive and official certificate along with their personal comment sheet and also a pin badge to collect! We encourage you to allow your child do take exams as this is an enjoyable experience for them.

GROUP 1

Age 9-11
Fridays 4:45-7pm

EXAMS

Our Primary exam classes for Group 1 are before their main Class from 4-4:45pm. We encourage our students to also attend this class as it enhances their knowledge and steps of dance. Please don’t be worried about the word EXAM, the students know know exactly what to do in the exam and will complete it with their peers and the examiner.

Along with a personal write up and official certificate, they receive their results a few weeks later with a collectable pin badge on request!

Once Primary level exams are complete they will then progress onto grade 1 level and above on a Wednesdays.

We encourage parents to allow your child do take exams as this is an enjoyable experience for them. We hope if children do attend Friday group 1 class, they are able to attend these classes too.

CLASS FUN

Within Group 1's class we use stretch bands, blacks and arm stretchers etc. These enhance our students learning and add an additional fun factor to the classes.

REWARDS

-We have lots of fun within lessons and when students show promise and improvement, during class, they are rewarded with stickers!

-We also have house points of which at the end of each term the team with most points gets a small prize.

-Not only do we have stickers and house points, we have a reward system called Gold which is a termly reward.

This means someone's name is pulled out of the a bag at the end of each term and can choose any item of dancewear they would like from a list!! To receive ‘Gold’ a student can achieve this by a number of ways, either by exceling themselves during class, going above an beyond of what is being asked, have practiced something that was set the week before (showing enthusiasm), improving on technique, helping another student and the list goes on! For Gold to be presented to the student, they have, within their bag of equipment that we have supplied them with, their own pen and paper for them to write their name on. This will then be place into a main bag for the end of term.

GROUP 2

Age range 11-13years
Fridays 4:45-7pm

Group 2 students are taught a range of dance subjects whilst learning technical terms that will assist them with the topics being learnt. They regularly cover Singing, Ballet, Tap, Modern, Contemporary and Acro within their class.

EXAMS

Our Primary exam classes for Group 2 are before their main Class from 4-4:45pm. We encourage our students to also attend this class as it enhances their knowledge and steps of dance. Please don’t be worried about the word EXAM, the students know know exactly what to do in the exam and will complete it with their peers and the examiner.

Group 3s are taught a range of dance subjects whilst learning technical terms that will assist them with the topics being learnt. They will regularly cover Ballet, Tap, Modern, Acro, Lyrical, Contemporary & Singing within their class.

EXAMS

Our exam classes for Group 3 are separate to their Friday Class and are on a Wednesday. We encourage our students to also attend this class as it enhances their knowledge and steps of dance. Please don’t be worried about the word EXAM, the students know know exactly what to do in the exam and will complete it with their peers and the examiner.

Along with a personal write up and official certificate, they receive their results a few weeks later with a collectable pin badge!

We encourage parents to allow your child do take exams as this is an enjoyable experience for them. We hope if children do attend Friday group 3 class, they are able to attend Wednesday exam classes too.

REWARDS

-We have a reward system called Gold which is a termly reward.

This means 2 students names are pulled out of the a bag at the end of each term and they receive a £10 voucher! To have chances of putting their name into the bag to be picked out for a voucher a student can either excel themselves during class, go above an beyond of what is being asked, have practiced something that was set the week before (showing enthusiasm), improve on technique, help another students and the list goes on! For Gold to be presented to the student, they have, within their bag of equipment that we have supplied them with, their own pen and paper for them to write their name on. This will then be place into a main bag for the end of term.

GROUP 4

Age range-based on ability, knowledge and understanding of dance
Fridays 5:30-9pm

DURING CLASS

Your child will be taught a range of dance subjects whilst learning technical terms that will assist them with the topics being learnt. They will regularly cover Ballet, Tap, Modern, Acro, Lyrcial and Contemporary within their class. Drama and Singing is an additional subject which is touched upon at least once a month.

EXAMS

Our exam classes for Group 4 are separate to their Friday Class and are on a Wednesday. We encourage our students to also attend this class as it enhances their knowledge and steps of dance. Please don’t be worried about the word EXAM, the students know know exactly what to do in the exam and will complete it with their peers and the examiner.

Along with a personal write up and official certificate, they receive their results a few weeks later with a collectable pin badge!

STREET DANCE

Mixed age groups from 6+
Thursdays
Red Group 4:15-5pm

Green Group 5-5:45pm

This class is a favorite among many of our students. Everyone loves the opportunity to explore the new dance moves taught in this class, while also mastering the classic moves. REWARDS

- All our Street Classes have a trophy as a reward that is given to someone each week.

PURE ACRO

A class just dedicated to Acrobatics!
Tuesdays
Mixed age groups from 3+
4:30-5:30pm
5:30-6:30pm

We have a lot of fun within our Pure Acro classes, these are classes of which we only focus on Acrobatics.

Students are able to work on moves they really would like to achieve with guidance and support. Many of students, when given this time, really excel themselves as we nurture them at their own pace. Lots of students achieve goals and try many more moves due to extra time assisting them. We also incorporate props which extends the technical content of a trick. Not only do we follow our own associations acrobatic program we also have the inspiration of Acrobatic Arts which our Deputy Head, Laura, is additionally trained in.

Hearing students call out “I’ve done it” or “finally!” is so rewarding when a student has worked on a goal with a teacher for a long length of time.

Due to the popularity of these classes, they are held every week on a Tuesday. Students don’t just attend to learn basic tricks (although these are covered ) they are encouraged to explore moves they have not previously attempted to boost their confidence and knowledge. We also incorporate double or teamwork tricks within these classes, which our students are assisted with to achieve these. They also learn the safety aspects to solely produce these diverse moves.

In addition, we enhance learning by using blocks to help stretch and use rollers which support the students with their roll overs, hand stand overs, back bends and kick overs! The students love these!

We encourage students to attend these classes if they are particularly interested in acrobatics or wanting to improve quicker with technique and knowledge. Our classes also give children the self-assurance to perform tricks in front of their peers (especially if they are shy, this reassures them.)

These classes, for students already attending another lesson with us throughout the week, are pay only when you attend as this is an additional class for them. of course, if you do only want to attend these classes, that is absolutely fine, but the rule of pay if you attend or not will apply. Uniform for these class is, or girls, our school polo t shirt, leotards, leggings, crop tops, hotpants, colored leotards and for boys, a school polo top and black jazz trousers. Hair for girls must be in a bun and hair must be off faces for everyone.

ADDED BONUS’S! We also have a bonus within Pure Acro Classes, when a student attends, no matter what age, we have a coloring competition which is held at the end of every half term! The students love this addition as they receive a prize for participating and the overall winner receives a bigger prize! Check out our COLOURING COMPEITION for more information. We also love to, at the end of each half term, turn the disco lights on, celebrate achievements within the half term and also practice acro moves on the lite up stage! We work together to form short routines using moves that were taught during the half term. Check out our DISCO ACRO link for more information.

DISCO ACRO SESSION!

At the end of each half term we plug in them disco lights and enjoy a well-deserved celebration of achievements. This is a great way to end the half term after all the hard work over the weeks of working on goals. The students love to show their favorite moves on the lite up stage. They create routines and link their Acro moves they have learnt from previous sessions and also perform these on stage

KEEPING CREATIVE WITH OUR COLOURING COMPETITION!

Creative with acrobatics, creative with colouring! We like to encourage our students to participate in our colouring competition and are always intrigued to see their different designs. The smiles on their faces to see what prizes they receive for their effort is priceless. An extra little something for the neatest and most creative design is given too. Our students are inspired by the Acrobatic Arts moves and have have option to take different pictures each term. Having practiced these moves within their class helps them choose the most inspiring pictures to then colour.
